The big news for 2007, though, is the addition of the GXP trim, which swaps the 2.4L Ecotec engine for a turbocharged 2.0L I4, boosting power by nearly 50% to 260 hp. Along with the fiercer engine, the GXP receives a sportier four-wheel independent suspension, a limited slip rear differential, dual exhaust outlets, and ABS and StabiliTrak. Convenience features such as cruise control, power mirrors and windows, remote keyless entry, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls are included as well.
The usual array of options, including automatic transmission, leather seats, air conditioning, a six-disc CD changer, larger speakers, and satellite radio, as well as a headliner to lessen cabin noise, help soften the Solstice's purposeful roadster experience. Doing so elevates the GXP's price to just a shade over $31,000.
