Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch | A Ford Towing Video Guide

One of the things that we utilize is of course the onboard scale system, right?

Bobby:
Yes. Right.

Erroll:
And tell me a little bit more about the onboard scales and the importance of using that and why that would be beneficial When I get ready to tow.

Bobby:
So the benefit of that is you can go through and use the sensors around the vehicle, but you can load your vehicle up with weight. You can even put in estimation for people weight or package weight if you don't have it while you're loading it. And it's going to give you a live number to make sure that you're not overloading the truck.

Erroll:
Wow. So it's going to give me a real time predictive estimate of like, "Hey, this is what you have." Especially let's say for instance, you and I are going up, we've got our gear, we were loading up our trailer, we can go in and plug those numbers in to make sure that our payload management is exactly where we need it to be.

Bobby:
Right.

Erroll:
I love that. And then in addition to that, now we can also talk about weight distribution with our trailer, right?

Bobby:
Yes.

Erroll:
And that's utilizing the Smart Hitch feature?

Bobby:
The Smart Hitch. Yeah. So with the Smart Hitch it's helping you dial in so that you get it set up properly. So you have what we call FALR, Front Axle Load Restoration at the optimal number.

Erroll:
Gotcha. So that way to make sure that while you're driving or towing or hauling, that you're getting the optimal experience when it comes to that because now you've taken that time to utilize some of those weight management systems to make sure you're as balanced at neutral as possible.

Bobby:
Right.
