The 2008 Town Car remains Lincoln's entry into the luxury sedan segment. Accordingly, it is very well equipped with power leather seating, cornering lamps, automatic headlamps, heated exterior mirrors with a left-hand auto-dimming feature as well as a memory function, a six-disc CD changer, dual-zone climate control, power adjustable pedals with memory, remote trunk closing, and an electrochromic rearview mirror.
Standard safety items include traction control, anti-lock disc brakes, rear park assist, and side air bags.
Underneath the Town Car you'll find a fully boxed, hydroformed steel frame that provides a stiff platform. This allows the engineers to tune the suspension for a remarkably comfortable ride. You'll also find rack and pinion steering that adds a delightful sharpness to the Town Car's reflexes.
The Town Car comes equipped with only one powertrain: the 4.6L V8 engine, rated at 239 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with a smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission that sends the power to the rear wheels. The Town Car's 21 cubic feet of trunk space is among the biggest in this segment.
Stepping up from the Town Car Signature Limited to the Town Car Signature L gives you a stretched wheelbase, allowing for six more inches of rear leg room. This increased rear seat space is garnished with heated rear seats, rear audio and climate controls, and other backseat luxuries, transforming the vehicle into something just short of a private limousine.
Options include flex-fuel capability, high-intensity discharge headlamps, and a trunk organizer.

The Lincoln Town Car sees a simplified model lineup for 2008, with the base level Signature and uplevel Designer Series models being discontinued. Outside, a two-tone paint scheme is no longer available, and four paint choices have been removed. On the safety front, a tire pressure monitoring system is now standard across the model line.
The navigation system, THX audio system, and moonroof no longer grace the options list.
The 2008 Town Car continues as Lincoln's premier sedan. It is the archetypal American automobile, delivering a luxury interior, a smooth ride, plenty of interior comfort, rear-wheel drive, and V8 power. According to Lincoln, the Town Car is the first car in its class to receive a five-star safety rating in all five categories.
